Bluebird

Love this place. Great food! Great staff! The pork belly has was surprisingly delicious! Great Sant Fe salad. Nice cocktails. Patio could use some love. Plants or decor. The ordering process isn't quite streamlined. You get a choice of barcode ordering or paper menu. Next time, paper menu. We didn't get all the items. I didn't like that non personal aspect. Part of what I enjoy about dining out is talking with wait staff. Having warm exchanges and banter. It felt very impersonal to have someone just come and plop food on thr table. No hello. No name. No human contact. No good. I dread A.I.'s affect on humanity.

Took a long time for the overworked/overwhelmed front person to take my order between a heavy influx of online/app orders. Couldn’t even get my beer and when I did it was heavy on the foam. Apparently all their beer are served that way, flat. The food was ok but took forever, it was a cold night so it felt like I was eating outside in the cold. The side of chicken I ordered was served cold and a side of reproach was also served when they realized I had rated them. SMH.You’ll be better off ordering from this place thru an app since it seems to be their main focus. Was made to close out ny check before I even finished eating, made me feel like they thought that maybe I would dine and dash, they must’ve seen a “bad hombre”. -3 stars on the service. Avery, when I asked if all the beers where coming out the same you said yes. No mention of a “regulator” nor the offer to replace or substitute was made either so no miscommunication there. I waited to see what it would taste like and it was flat. Our conversation was merely about an item no longer on the menu and the second time you spoke to me was more of a confrontation about the rating. I’m disappointed because the past few times I’ve been here I’ve had a great time with the front crew and food had always been delicious. Today was just a terrible disappointment.

My wife and I tried this new spot in Portage Park recently and loved it. Originally we ordered via grubhub and the food arrived fast hot and right. The bluebird cheeseburger is one of the better cheeseburgers I’ve had at a great value price. While I’ve not tried everything I do know that the truffle macaroni is sublime as are the sweet potato tots. I went back for lunch today to discover they have a nice seating area both inside and outside patio area. I found that bluebird was clean and I liked pretty much everything about Bluebird. It’s nice to have a new higher end feeling place here in Portage Park. Feels gourmet without the gourmet prices. I think it should be on your must try list, you won’t be disappointed.

My go to for chicken/regular burger. I ordered from here many times and it's mostly consistent and good. Stuff I tried from the menu: The Bluebird - really good. Fried chicken sandwich - it's okay. Coleslaw is a nice topping. Nashville hot - it's okay, not that spicy or interesting. Pajaro Verde sandwich - pass, not interesting. California club - nice, chicken has goos texture. Smoked gouda burger - really good (my go to choice). Bacon jam burger - it's nice. Candied bacon and brie - it's okay. Habanero Parmesan burger - good. Have nice spice. Shrimp Po' Poy - it's meh. Kodachrome salad - nice, but too much bacon. Elote - this is probably the dish that changes the most. Not your typical elote but it's tasty. Fries - not crispy and I love that. Duck fat fries - same as the regular fries (the duck fat isn't worth the extra money). Mac N' cheese - not great. Overall good food 👍
